When Jeanne Friot studied at the Ecole Duperré, she lacked relatable role models in fashion. “There were no queer women at the head of a fashion house; there were very few women at the head of fashion houses full stop,” she said backstage.
Her “Idols” collection pays tribute to her inspirations like David Bowie, Grace Jones, and Debbie Harry. The runway featured her distinctive belt dress, feather-fringed repurposed Levi’s, and studded denim, expanding her brand to a broader audience.
Collaborations included a “Love, Louder” T-shirt line with Tinder, supporting NGO SOS Homophobie, and over-the-knee boots with Both. Despite market challenges, Friot finds support from South Korea and La Maison Simons.
